Linking Collections, Building Connections

Beyond workspaces, the arts organizations examined in the present exhibition also provide monetary support to artists. The Woodstock Artists Association (now the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum) was founded in 1919 by artists recognizing the need for a regional exhibition space, and is run by artists to the present day. WAAM continues to provide several exhibition spaces to area artists, while its longstanding tradition of annual purchase awards gives recognition and financial reward to artists at varying stages of their careers. Yasuo Kuniyoshi and Milton Glaser, both major names in the art world, have received WAAM’s Annual Print Award.
