He studied at the University of Kansas at Lawrence, earning both his BFA and MFA. From 1971 to 1989 he taught in the metals program at the State University of New York at New Paltz, and presently teaches at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ebendorf has exhibited widely both in the United States and Europe, as well as in Asia and Africa.
