Museums and artists throughout history rely strongly on patronage— meaning support, financial or otherwise, provided by an outside source. New York City gallery owner, collector, and long-time resident of Woodstock Howard Greenberg exemplifies how knowledgeable philanthropy is foundational to shaping access to the visual arts. This portion of the exhibition presents a selection of his donations to HVVACC organizations. Howard Greenberg’s formative role in building collections points to the important relationship between the art worlds of the Hudson Valley and metropolitan New York.
