George McNeil

Known as an Abstract Expressionist in the 1950s and 1960s, George McNeil began painting figurative work in the 1970s. His energetic and cartoon-like style, paired with vibrant colors, portrays the disco dancers and punk rockers that he encountered in New York City. The mask-like faces elicit intensified psychological states, such as the ecstatic expression depicted in this untitled print.
