Barbara Leoff Burge’s multi-paneled work on paper from 2011 pays tribute to all of the artists involved in the Women’s Studio Workshop, the largest publisher of artists’ books in North America. She lists the names of the artists in Gregg Shorthand, underscoring the freedoms and constraints—the visual and the political aspects—of an efficient and seductive form of writing used by generations of secretaries.
